Crypto Keno in 2026: The Odds Behind Every Number You Pick

18+ · We may earn a commission from links marked “Visit”. Partner casinos are listed first. Listings are earned through testing and scores come from published terms; neither changes for money. How we earn

Crypto keno is a lottery-style game you can play in a few seconds. You pick some numbers from a board, the game draws a set of numbers at random, and you're paid by how many of your picks match. More matches pay more, and the paytable tells you exactly how much.

Classic keno, the kind in old casino lounges, had a reputation for being one of the most expensive games in the building. Crypto keno originals rebuilt it as an instant game with smaller boards, adjustable risk and published paytables. That changes the price a great deal.

We popped the hood on the board sizes, the odds formula, the paytables and the risk settings, with worked examples you can check on a calculator. The free-play demo above uses play money only, so you can try different pick counts and risk levels without staking anything.

Where to play crypto keno in 2026

Keno shows up in two places in a crypto casino lobby. In-house originals sit next to dice, crash and plinko, usually on a 40-number board with risk settings. Studio keno games and live lottery-style draws sit in the slots or live sections, often on an 80-number board.

The list below draws on our full Haxies Index across 17 casinos, with partner casinos featured first and badged. The Index scores how cheap each welcome offer is to clear, the payout speed each operator states, and the licensing and ownership cover it publishes. It doesn't score keno, and our brand data doesn't confirm which casinos carry keno, so check the lobby before depositing.

Two brands in our data market provably fair originals. BC.Game lists 74 of them, including a Crash game at a stated 99% RTP. Betpanda also lists provably fair originals. Neither entry names keno specifically, so look for it in the lobby rather than assuming.

The highest Index scores on our list of the best crypto casinos go where offers are cheapest to clear and stated payouts quickest. That's a good place to keep a keno balance. The keno edge itself comes from the paytable.

How does crypto keno work?

In crypto keno you choose between 1 and 10 numbers on a board, usually of 40 or 80 numbers. The game draws a fixed set of numbers at random, often 10 on a 40-number board or 20 on an 80-number board. You're paid by how many of your picks appear in the draw, using the paytable for your pick count and risk level.

That's the core. Here are the parts.

The board

A 40-number board is the standard for crypto originals. Ten numbers are drawn each round, so a quarter of the board lights up. An 80-number board is the classic lottery format. Twenty numbers are drawn, which is also a quarter of the board.

That shared quarter is a useful anchor. On either board, any single number you pick has a 25% chance of being drawn.

Picks

You choose how many numbers to play, typically from 1 to 10. Each pick count has its own paytable. Pick 1 is a simple 25% bet. Pick 10 is a long shot with a huge top prize.

Hits

A hit is one of your picks that appears in the draw. With 5 picks you can hit 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. The paytable lists a multiplier for each hit count, and most low hit counts pay nothing or less than your stake.

Risk levels

Many originals add a risk setting: low, medium, high, sometimes classic. Each one is a separate paytable for the same pick count. Low risk spreads payouts across more hit counts. High risk pays nothing for small hit counts and much more for the rare big ones.

Keno odds: the hypergeometric formula

Keno odds are not guesswork. They follow a standard piece of probability called the hypergeometric distribution. It answers one question: if you pick some numbers, and the game draws some numbers, what are the chances exactly k of yours match?

The formula

On a board of N numbers, with D drawn, and P picks, the chance of exactly k hits is:

P(k hits) = C(P, k) x C(N - P, D - k) / C(N, D)

C(a, b) means "a choose b", the number of ways to choose b items from a. Any calculator with an nCr button does it.

In words: count the ways to hit exactly k of your picks, times the ways the rest of the draw can fall on numbers you didn't pick, divided by all possible draws.

Worked example: 5 picks on a 40-number board

The board has 40 numbers and the game draws 10. You pick 5.

The total number of possible draws is C(40, 10), which is 847,660,528.

To hit all 5, the draw must include your 5 numbers and 5 of the other 35. That's C(5, 5) x C(35, 5) = 1 x 324,632 = 324,632 draws. Divide by 847,660,528 and you get about 0.038%, or roughly 1 in 2,611.

To hit exactly 3, the draw needs 3 of your 5 and 7 of the other 35. That's C(5, 3) x C(35, 7) = 10 x 6,724,520 = 67,245,200 draws, about 7.93% of all draws.

Full table for 5 picks

Hits Chance About 1 in
0 21.66% 5
1 41.65% 2
2 27.77% 4
3 7.93% 13
4 0.96% 104
5 0.038% 2,611

The chances add up to 100%. The most likely result is 1 hit. You'll hit 4 or more about once in every 100 rounds.

Other pick counts

The same formula works for any pick count. With 1 pick on a 40-number board, the chance of a hit is exactly 25%. With 2 picks, the chance of hitting both is about 5.77%. With 10 picks, the chance of hitting all 10 is about 1 in 848 million, which is why the top prize on pick 10 can be enormous and still rarely be paid.

Paytables and house edge in crypto keno

Once you know the chance of each hit count, the paytable tells you the price. The formula is the same as for any instant game:

RTP = sum of (chance of each hit count x payout for that hit count)

House edge = 100% - RTP

Worked example: three risk levels

Here are three paytables for 5 picks on a 40-number board. The multipliers are our own, chosen for illustration so the maths is easy to follow. Real games publish their own.

Hits Chance Low risk Medium risk High risk
0 21.66% 0x 0x 0x
1 41.65% 0.6x 0x 0x
2 27.77% 1.4x 1.8x 0x
3 7.93% 3x 4x 7x
4 0.96% 10x 13x 32x
5 0.038% 50x 140x 350x
RTP about 99.2% about 99.5% about 99.6%

Take the low-risk column. 41.65% x 0.6 is about 0.250. 27.77% x 1.4 is about 0.389. 7.93% x 3 is about 0.238. 0.96% x 10 is about 0.096. 0.038% x 50 is about 0.019. Add them and you get about 0.992, so roughly 99.2% RTP and a 0.8% edge.

The other two columns work the same way and land in the same neighbourhood. The price is almost identical. The shape is wildly different.

Where the return sits

At low risk, 1 or 2 hits returns something on about 69% of rounds, and the biggest share of the return comes from 2 hits. You see frequent small results.

At high risk, any result below 3 hits pays nothing, which is about 91% of rounds. More than half the return comes from 3 hits, and a 5-hit round at 350x carries about 0.13 of the total on its own. You see long runs of zero and occasional jumps.

Classic keno vs instant keno

Traditional lottery-style keno is famous for high edges, often far higher than slots. Crypto originals tend to be priced like other instant games, at low single-digit edges. Studio and live keno sit somewhere in between. There's no single "keno edge". Read the RTP in the help panel of the exact game you're playing.

Choosing picks and risk level

Because the price varies little between settings on a well-built game, your choice is really about variance: how bumpy you want the ride.

Fewer picks

One to three picks give frequent results and modest top prizes. Pick 1 at 25% is basically a coin flip with an uneven coin. With 3 picks, an illustrative paytable of 0x, 1x, 2.1x and 22x for 0 to 3 hits returns about 99.4%, and you'll hit at least one number on about 59% of rounds.

Middle picks

Four to six picks are the sweet spot for many players. Small wins still turn up, and a full hit is rare but not absurd. At 5 picks, a full hit is about 1 in 2,611.

Many picks

Eight to ten picks chase very large multipliers. The trade-off is that most rounds return nothing or very little, and a full hit may never come in your lifetime of play. At 10 picks on a 40-number board, hitting all 10 is about 1 in 848 million.

Matching settings to budget

Expected cost is turnover times edge. Play 500 rounds at $0.20 and you turn over $100. At a 1% edge, the expected cost is $1, whatever pick count you use.

What changes is how likely you are to see the big one. At 5 picks, the chance of at least one full hit in 1,000 rounds is about 32%. At 10 picks it's close to zero. Size the session so the drought between good results doesn't empty the balance.

Multiplayer and live keno

Some crypto casinos run shared keno rounds where many players bet on the same draw, often on an 80-number board with a countdown between draws. You pick your numbers before the timer ends, then watch the 20 balls appear.

The maths is the same as solo keno. Other players' picks don't affect your odds, and there is no pool you're competing for unless the game says so. What changes is pace: you wait for each draw, so your turnover per hour is lower. That actually lowers your hourly expected cost.

Live lottery-style shows add a presenter and a physical ball machine. They belong to the same family as other studio games, with RTP figures published by the provider. Contribution rules for crypto live casino titles often differ from slots, so check the bonus terms if you play these with bonus money.

Provably fair keno

Many crypto keno originals are provably fair. You can confirm the draw wasn't changed after you placed your bet.

Three inputs set each draw:

  • Server seed: a secret value from the casino. Before you play, you see only its hash.
  • Client seed: a value you set.
  • Nonce: a counter that rises by one with each bet on that seed pair.

The game hashes them together and uses the output to shuffle or select the drawn numbers. Because the server seed was committed before you set your client seed, the casino can't steer draws away from your picks.

How to check a draw

  1. Copy the hashed server seed before playing.
  2. Set your own client seed.
  3. Play. Each round uses the next nonce.
  4. Rotate the seed pair so the casino reveals the old server seed.
  5. Hash the revealed seed with SHA-256 in an independent tool. It must match what you copied.
  6. Run server seed, client seed and nonce through a verifier and compare each drawn set with your history.

The limit of the proof

Provably fair proves the draw is genuine. It doesn't prove the paytable is generous. A provably fair keno game with a poor paytable is still poor value. Compare the RTP, then check fairness.

Crypto keno vs other instant games

Keno sits in the same family as dice, plinko and mines: instant rounds, operator-set paytables, and provably fair versions at many casinos. Each hides its price in a slightly different place.

Game What you choose Where the edge sits Typical feel
Crypto keno Picks and risk level Paytable per hit count Frequent small results or long droughts, by setting
Crypto dice Win chance and direction Multiplier formula, shown on every bet Smooth to swingy, by target
Crypto plinko Rows and risk level Paytable per pocket Clustered results with rare edges
Crypto mines Mine count and when to stop Multiplier ladder Step-by-step, tense

Dice shows its edge in plain sight. Keno makes you do a little arithmetic. Once you've done it, you know exactly what you're paying, which is more than most slot players can say. The full spread of edges across crypto casino games runs from about 1% to well over that, depending on the game and the operator.

Bonus wagering and keno

Keno is rarely a good way to clear a welcome bonus. It depends on how the casino classifies it.

Originals usually count as "other games". In our brand data, Bets.io counts slots at 100% and other games at 5%, and Betpanda counts slots at 100%, live games at 20% and other games at 0%.

Worked example

A $100 bonus at 40x on the bonus means $4,000 of turnover. On a slot with a 2% edge, expected cost is about $80.

At 5% contribution, each $1 of keno counts as $0.05. You'd need $80,000 of keno turnover. At a 1% edge, that's about $800 of expected cost, ten times the slot route. At 0%, the bonus never clears from keno at all. You can run your own numbers in the wagering calculator.

Max bets and abuse clauses

Bonus terms often cap stakes while a bonus is live. The Bets.io review notes a 2 USDT max bet, for example. Terms can also flag low-risk patterns, such as covering most of the board, as bonus abuse. Clear bonuses on slots, or skip them, and play keno with cash.

A better match

Wager-free rebates suit keno better than deposit bonuses. Cocobet states 50% cashback on first-week net losses, paid wager-free, and Winna offers instant rakeback. Our list of crypto casino cashback deals puts the terms side by side.

Myths about keno

Keno's lottery roots bring a lot of number superstition with them. None of it survives contact with the formula.

"Hot numbers keep coming"

Some games show recent draw history and highlight frequent numbers. Every draw is independent. A number drawn five times in a row has exactly the same chance in the next round as any other.

"Cold numbers are due"

The mirror myth. A number that hasn't appeared in 30 rounds isn't overdue. The draw has no memory, and on a provably fair game each nonce produces its own fresh result.

"Spread picks beat clustered picks"

Picking 1 to 5 in a row or 5 numbers scattered across the board makes no difference. The formula only cares how many numbers you pick, not where they sit.

"Birthdays are lucky"

Picking from 1 to 31 is just picking 31 of the board's numbers. It has no effect on your odds, and in shared games with a split pool it can mean more people share your result.

"More picks means better odds"

More picks means more ways to hit something, but the paytable adjusts. The price per dollar stays roughly the same and the top prize becomes much harder to land.

"Predictor tools help"

Apps that claim to predict keno draws can't see the server seed, which stays hidden until you rotate it. Some of these tools are scams that ask for logins or wallet keys. Never share either.

Coins and withdrawals for keno

Keno stakes are often tiny, so network fees can cost more than a whole session's expected loss. Choose a low-fee route.

  • Stablecoins keep your balance steady. TRC-20 USDT usually has low network fees.
  • Litecoin is a common low-fee option for both deposits and withdrawals.
  • Bitcoin on-chain fees rise with mempool congestion. Lightning cuts them, and BC.Game and Betpanda confirm Lightning in our data.

Our list of litecoin casinos shows who confirms LTC. Send on the network the cashier names, since coins sent on the wrong chain can be lost.

When a big hit lands, speed matters. Cybet, Cocobet, Winna, TrustDice, CasinoCrypto.io and Crypto-Games.io state instant payouts, and Jack states under 5 minutes. The ranking of fast payout crypto casinos compares every brand on stated speed and flags published caps. These are operators' stated figures. A first withdrawal can trigger verification even when signup didn't, so allow time.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Ignoring the RTP. Keno ranges from cheap originals to expensive lottery formats. Check the help panel first.
  • Picking 10 on a small budget. Most rounds return little or nothing. Match picks to how long you want to play.
  • Tracking hot and cold numbers. It's entertainment, not information.
  • Playing keno with an active bonus. Low contribution and max bet rules make it a poor deal.
  • Autoplay with no stops. Set a loss limit and a win limit before the first round.
  • Wrong network deposits. Check the chain and address every time.

It depends on where you live, and sometimes on your region within a country. Every casino also publishes its own restricted-country list. Check both before signing up.

Licensing differs across our 17 brands. Several publish Anjouan or Curaçao licence numbers, Winna lists the Tobique Gaming Commission, and Betpanda publishes no gambling licence, only a Costa Rica company registration. Verification policies differ too, and our list of no KYC crypto casinos records what each operator says about checks at signup and at withdrawal.

Playing keno sensibly

Keno feels slow and gentle, but instant versions on autoplay can run many rounds a minute. Turnover adds up quietly, and so does cost.

Set a budget per session, use deposit limits and take breaks. Good habits for responsible crypto gambling start before you deposit, and Gambling Therapy offers free, confidential support in many languages.

Crypto keno questions

What is crypto keno?

It's a lottery-style casino game played with cryptocurrency. You pick numbers from a board of 40 or 80, the game draws a set of numbers, and you're paid by how many of your picks match, according to a paytable.

What are the odds of winning crypto keno?

They depend on the board size and how many numbers you pick. On a 40-number board with 10 drawn, any single number has a 25% chance. With 5 picks, hitting all 5 is about 1 in 2,611.

How are keno odds calculated?

With the hypergeometric formula: C(picks, hits) x C(board minus picks, drawn minus hits), divided by C(board, drawn). Any calculator with an nCr function will work it out.

How many numbers should I pick in keno?

No pick count is clearly cheaper on a well-built game, because the paytable adjusts. Fewer picks give frequent small results; more picks give long droughts and bigger top prizes. Choose by budget and how long you want to play.

What is the house edge on crypto keno?

It varies by game. Many instant crypto originals publish low edges similar to other instant games, while classic lottery-style keno can be far more expensive. Multiply each hit chance by its payout, add them up and subtract from 100%.

Do risk levels change the house edge?

Usually only a little. Risk levels change how the return is spread across hit counts. Low risk pays more often in small amounts; high risk pays nothing for small hit counts and much more for rare big ones.

Is crypto keno provably fair?

Many in-house versions are. After rotating your seed pair, check the revealed server seed against the hash shown before play, then recompute each draw from the seeds and nonce. Studio and live versions rely on certified RNGs or physical draws instead.

Do hot and cold numbers matter in keno?

No. Every draw is independent, so a number's recent history has no effect on whether it appears next. On provably fair games, each round comes from its own nonce with no memory of earlier draws.
